Good morning. It’s Krista.

You miiiiight have noticed a little mistake in our last newsletter. Yes, we accidentally recommended a restaurant that had cockroaches but we assure you it was a terrible oversight and we apologize for the mistake. You see, we do our places to eat section ahead of time and then we add the news highlights the night before each newsletter to make sure you get the latest news and we didn’t notice the connection. We are sorry and hope you can forgive us!

At the age of 24, Kevin Lee is competing in tournaments across the globe to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics // Yves Lacroix

Badminton players from across the globe will gather in Calgary for the YONEX Canada Open, North America’s most prestigious badminton tournament. Held in the WinSport Event Centre from July 4 to 9, it is expected that Calgary will welcome 3,000 spectators from around the world. Competing in the tournament is Calgary’s own Kevin Lee, who has played badminton since childhood. At the age of 24, Lee hopes to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Journey: The qualification process for the Paris 2024 Olympics will end on April 28, 2024. The Canadian team with the highest world ranking will qualify for the Olympics. Lee and Lindeman currently rank 41st.

YONEX: This will be the ninth year in a row that the event will be held in Calgary at WinSport. Lee is competing in both men’s doubles with Lindeman and mixed doubles with Eliana Zhang at the tournament.

Taking over the Jubilations Dinner Theatre stage until Aug. 12 is Old Time Rock ‘n Roll. The show follows Michael Stevens as he stumbles upon an old stash of records located in his attic.
