Modern Steak is teaming up with Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, Irie Chef, Lusi Restaurant and Lloyd's Caribbean Bakery for a one-night fundraiser on November 15th to support hurricane recovery efforts in Jamaica. The "Jamaican Heat" dinner at Modern Steak's Stephen Avenue location (100 8 Ave SE) will feature a six-course tasting menu pairing Alberta beef with Caribbean flavours, with each course accompanied by an Appleton Estate rum cocktail. All profits from the evening will be donated to Jamaica relief through the government's official portal, with a fundraising goal of $5,000.
Tickets are $98 plus tax and gratuity, and the menu includes dishes like oxtail ravioli from Lusi Restaurant, ackee and saltfish spring rolls from Irie Chef, and Modern Steak's 48-hour short rib with jerk glaze and callaloo risotto. Lloyd's Caribbean Bakery is providing Jamaican beef patty amuse bouche to start the evening. DJ Gummi will provide live Caribbean-inspired music throughout the night.
Owner Stephen Deere says the dinner represents what Modern Steak values most—community, collaboration and culture. Reservations are required and can be made through Modern Steak's website starting at 6 p.m. on November 15th.
