Calgarians can lace up their shoes or hop on their bikes for the Calgary Ride for Refuge on October 4, a community event supporting young women and girls facing homelessness. The walk and bike ride takes place at Fish Creek Park from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with check-in at 380 Canyon Meadows Drive SE.

Participants can choose their own challenge—walk 2.5 or five kilometres, or bike 10 or 20 kilometres—with no registration fee to join. Teams are encouraged to fundraise for Safe Haven Foundation, which provides housing and support programs for at-risk youth, with an overall goal of raising $20,000 for the Calgary-based organization.

The family-friendly event is part of a national movement where Canadians show solidarity with people seeking hope, safety and freedom. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those who want to support the cause but can't attend the ride.
