A two-day operation by Calgary police and the Alberta Sheriffs ended with 19 people arrested and 87 outstanding warrants executed, police said Friday.
The warrants were for charges including possession of dangerous weapons, drug trafficking, personation, possession of stolen property and possession of fake ID documents, according to police.
After planning the operation for several weeks, members from District 3's Community Engagement Response Team, community resource officers and patrol officers with the Alberta Sheriffs' Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team (FASST) went to 62 homes across District 3 during the operation.
"Our continuing partnership with the Alberta Sheriffs allows us to improve community safety, by coordinating resources to hold offenders accountable, while addressing ongoing concerns within the district," District 3 Insp. Travis Juska said in a statement.
Insp. Darren Thompson of the Sheriffs' FASST unit said operations like this show what police agencies can do when they "share resources and use our combined expertise to locate wanted fugitives and hold offenders accountable."
