Federal election 2025: The results are in

The votes are in and Mark Carney and the Liberal Party have won the federal election. Albertans—as expected—painted the province blue. We took a look at all of the local ridings in the Calgary area.

  • Calgary Skyview: Amanpreet Gill | Conservative

  • Calgary Nose Hill: Michelle Rempel Garner | Conservative

  • Calgary Signal Hill: David McKenzie | Conservative

  • Calgary Centre: Greg McLean | Conservative

  • Calgary East: Jasraj Hallan | Conservative

  • Calgary Heritage: Shuv Majumdar | Conservative

  • Calgary Midnapore: Stephanie Kusie | Conservative

  • Calgary Shepard: Tom Kmiec | Conservative

The Calgary Confederation riding is the only one that is still too close to call by this morning. Liberal Corey Hogan is leading by 875 votes over Conservative Jeremy Nixon.

🗳️ Carney vows to govern for all Canadians after winning election upended by Trump. The Liberal share of the vote hovers just above 43%, and they are leading or projected elected in about 168 seats, short of the 172 needed to form a majority government. Poilievre’s Conservatives are leading or projected elected in about 144 seats.

🔵 Conservatives dominated Alberta in last night’s federal election, with the province seeing few wins for Liberals and NDP.

Liberal Leader Mark Carney cancelled Calgary rally on Sunday due to Vancouver tragedy where 11 people were killed and more than 20 injured when a man drove into a crowd celebrating the Lapu Lapu Day festival.

🚔️ Vehicle and apartment searches by Calgary Police resulted in the seizure of 22 grams of fentanyl, 18 grams of crack cocaine, a Taser, five firearms, 1,170 rounds of ammunition, and more. A 29-year-old Cochrane man is facing multiple drugs and weapons-related charges.

💔 Calgary’s Filipino community reeling after deadly Vancouver festival attack. University of Calgary Filipino Students’ Association is raising funds to send to Filipino BC.

🚨 Alcohol-fuelled fight left one dead and two others with stab wounds who were taken to hospital. Calgary police say the stabbings took place outside Commonwealth Bar & Stage early Saturday.

🚓 Calgary police confirmed the discovery of human remains in a wooded area in the community of Spruce Cliff on Friday.

🦸 On Friday, Calgary Expo’s Parade of Wonders thrilled thousands as it made its way through downtown Calgary kicking off the start of Calgary Expo weekend.
