Plus, patio guide, luxury tree home, and actor loves YYC
Good morning !
If you’re anything like us, then you probably love patio season so we wanted to share Concorde Entertainment Group’s newly released patio guide in celebration of reopening its popular patio, which is bigger than ever. We think National says it better than us so check out the new patio guide to make the most of the city’s short but sweet patio season. The patio guide highlights happy hour deals, peak sun times, and which patios are heated and dog-friendly.

"Just found a little slice of heaven in Calgary," raved American actor and comedian Patton Oswalt on his weekend Instagram post about Calgary’s Globe Theatre. "It’s dingy, it’s gloomy — it’s PERFECT. Non-stop new, fringe, and classic cult cinema. Lumpy seats, mostly-empty auditoriums on a Saturday afternoon."
The actor visited the Globe on Saturday afternoon to watch The Last Stop in Yuma County before returning the next day to watch John Waters’ classic Pink Flamingos. He posted a selfie of himself smiling in a seemingly empty theatre.
"Thank you, @globecinema_yyc — for your charming concession stand, your showcasing of indie game designers (you can play as-yet-unreleased games from local designers for FREE!) and your weird, midnight-movies-for-matinee programming style. Breakfast for dinner for sprocket fiends like me. I love you guys.”
The Globe Cinema thanked the actor in response. "So stoked we could make it happen.”

If you’re anything like us, then you probably love patio season so we wanted to share Concorde Entertainment Group’s newly released patio guide in celebration of reopening its popular patio, which is bigger than ever and loaded with specials. The guide is loaded with happy hour deals, peak sun times, and which patios are heated and dog-friendly. Below are our three favourite patios listed in the guide, but we think National says it better than us so check out the patio guide for yourself.
Model Milk located at 308 17 Ave. SW: Come for the food and stay for the sun-soaked patio that stretches along the front side of the building, offering scenic, street side tables and a fun place to gather with friends on bustling 17th Ave.
Palomino Smokehouse located at 109 7 Ave. SW: Palomino is known for its cold beer, loud bands, and smokey barbecue and it’s located right in the heart of downtown. Bonus points for being next to the train for easy transit.
National on 10th located at 341 10 Ave. SW: We would be amiss not to mention the reason for the guide itself. This popular rooftop patio was already amazing but now it’s even better with more space and more daily specials.
