Beakerhead is celebrating its 10th anniversary from Sept. 14 to 17 and it’s free to attend! Celebrating art, science, and engineering, Beakerhead features more than 50 activities, presentations, workshops, and installations, including the AI and Machine Learning with Flint where TELUS Spark‘s resident robo-dog teaches the world of robotics; the BODY: an immersive nighttime installation where sculpture, lighting, special effects, sound, and fire portray human biology; Hack the House where talented youth unleash their engineering prowess; and MAPPERZ Artists Showcase featuring the creative use of projection mapping and effects. VRCORE Education is revolutionizing the way education is taught through its virtual reality field trips. // Submitted

A few months ago, a Calgary EdTech company VRCORE Education launched the world’s first in-school virtual reality field trip, revolutionizing how students learn. After the success of the field trips, VRCORE is now expanding to the US and Europe to offer the experience to students across the globe.

VR Field Trips: Jason van Hierden, CEO of VRCORE Education, says the educational technology can blast students into outer space where they can learn about the solar system.

A world-class team: With the growth of the company, van Hierden has put together a new leadership team of highly-seasoned individuals who have been forerunners in the technology industry.

The Calgary Folk Music Festival is at Prince’s Island Park this weekend.

Calgary’s beloved Calgary Folk Music Festival is returning this weekend for its 44th year as one of the city’s most magical weekends. Featuring 70 artists from around the world, the Folk Fest has a little something for everyone. Don’t let the name fool you, as the festival features artists from genres like funk, hip-hop, pop, blues, and more! Folk Fest kicks off on July 27. Tickets are still on sale so be sure to grab a four-day pass or grab a single pass!
