Calgary is hosting a Caesar festival this spring in celebration of the beverage that was invented in the city 54 years ago. YYCaesarfest takes place May 20 and 21 at The Big Four at Stampede Park where guests can sample more than 40 different variations of the popular cocktail.
In honour of YYCaesarfest, here are Calgary Citizen’s picks for the best caesars in Calgary.
The Beltliner: Known for its Caesar Bar, you can choose from vodka, gin, or tequila complete with a signature smoked chili rim. Customize your drink with delicious add-ons including a cheese skewer, pepperoni, bacon, and even a cupcake!
Cleaver: This Caesar is so big, it’s on the dinner menu! The Caesar Stack is topped with a beef slider, fried chicken, a jalapeno waffle AND corndog, and bacon. You won’t be hungry after taking down this drink and meal in one.
Tommyfield Gastro Pub: The Tommyfield Caesar includes a traditional celery stalk but that’s not all. Other fixings include a pepperoni stick, a deep-fried pickle, and a gastro slider. Try one on special on Sundays.
Prairie Dog Brewing: While best known for its beer, Prairie Dog also makes a mean Caesar complete with house-made vegan shellfish-free caesar mix and salt rim, local vodka, and a spicy pickled bean.
Local 403: The 403 Caesar at this family-friendly sports bar comes highly recommended. It’s a more classic take with traditional ingredients but it’s the smoked bacon garnish that keeps Caesar fanatics coming back for more.
