Calgary is getting its first-ever hot dog festival this spring, and it comes with a good cause attached. Dog Days runs from May 23 to June 6 at participating restaurants across the city, with $1 from every Dog Days hot dog sold going directly to the Pet Access League Society (PALS), a Calgary nonprofit that sends trained volunteers and therapy pets to over 55 facilities — including all Calgary hospitals, care facilities, schools, libraries, and emergency and domestic violence centres.

The roster is still growing, but already includes some well-known Calgary spots: Pigeonhole, Clive Burger, Lulu Bar, Good Cheer Brewing, Boogie's Burgers, Bastion Burger, and Hi5 Burger, among others. Each participating restaurant will put their own spin on the Dog Days hot dog, making it a good excuse to work your way around the city over the two weeks.

The festival is organized by Press & Post, a Calgary events company, and kicks off with a launch party at the dog-friendly Cold Garden brewery on May 23. More details on participating restaurants and special events will be announced on Instagram at @dogdaysyyc.
