Calgary Citizen Newsletter Tuesday April 9

Good morning !

Happy Birthday to ME! I’ve been reflecting on how much my life has changed over the past year, a year that was the most difficult of my life. Through the ups and downs, I’ve been learning more about myself and felt myself evolve in so many ways. One of the most exciting is that I taught myself to sew ( slightly embarrassing to say as I turn 42) and I discovered that maybe I am, indeed, artistic after all because I’ve also taken up other art forms, too. I’ve started showcasing my work and have even been getting some custom requests for prints or original projects from people I know. Whether it’s abstract mixed media art, photography or upcycled decor and denim, I’ve found my niche. My birthday may not look the way I thought it would, but it’s exactly what I needed for this new chapter of my life and I’m going to spend my day diving into some projects.

Solar eclipse stuns Calgarians

As the moon obstructed a portion of the sun on Monday afternoon, thousands of Calgarians across the city ventured outside to get a glimpse — with and without their glasses. The last partial solar eclipse to occur in Calgary was in 2017 and Calgarians will be treated to a total eclipse in August 2044.

As City TV reports, it was a busy day at TELUS Spark Science Centre on Monday afternoon as hundreds of Calgarians showed up to witness the phenomenon in the sky. Calgarians of all ages stood outside the centre in awe as the moon passed between the earth, blocking out 40% of the sun.
