Good morning !
EDITOR‘S NOTE: Due to some tech issues, today’s newsletter didn’t send this morning but here it is now! Sorry for the delay.
OK - I know we live in a winter city but seriously - AGAIN? I think I can speak for most of us when I say we’ve had enough of the snow and winter weather! A nice weekend has led us to this winter blast that even prompted Environment Canada issue a special weather statement for heavy snowfall warnings. Drive safe out there!

Hope’s Cradle set to offer anonymity as a safe infant surrender sight
Calgary’s first-ever safe-surrender box is now open outside of the Children’s Cottage in the city’s northwest in Montgomery not far from where a newborn was left in a dumpster seven years ago. The newly opened Child and Family Centre will be home to the surrender site that gives parents a safe spot to surrender their children
As CTV reports, facility officials say they were impacted by the death of the infant and “wanted to do something that would provide an alternative for parents if they were in desperate situations."
According to the Calgary Herald, Hope’s Cradle is a legal, safe-surrender option, meaning women who give up their baby do not face any criminal charges, provided there’s no abuse of the child, she said. The cradle is an anonymous drop-off site where an infant can be left in a heated, secured bed, signalling a silent alarm which informs staff.
