Calgary Citizen Newsletter Thursday Sept. 21
Good morning, there!
It’s almost officially fall and larch season is upon us! It’s my favourite time of year for many reasons—including the fact I can break out my favourite sweaters—but more importantly, it’s also the best time to take beautiful fall photos. It’s almost spooky season and, of course, the best time to indulge in those seasonal coffees we all love so much.

Hundreds gather in downtown Calgary as protests break out across Canada

Hundreds of Calgarians showed up downtown at the Harry Hays to rally for and against gender and sexual diversity education. Some were protesting LGBTQ-inclusive education policies in the classroom while others were defending what they call hate speech and attacks on gay and trans children.
As CTV reports, the organizer for Calgary's 1 Million March for Children says they want gender identity teachings removed from schools, saying they are inappropriate for anyone under 18 years old.
As Global News reports, the Alberta Teachers’ Association said the march was “part of a coordinated strike across North America to promote misinformation, intolerance and hate toward the LGBTQ+ community, as well as toward teachers who work to protect the safety and well-being of all students.”
As CBC reports, arrests and heated exchanges marked rallies for and against teaching LGBTQ rights in schools across Canada.
