The 14th annual pink pancake breakfast takes place at Southcentre Mall on July 12 from 9am to noon. // Submitted
One of the Calgary Stampede’s most popular events is the pancake breakfast. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the tradition after it was started in 1923 by Jack Morton. After apparently losing every event he competed in, Morton drove his chuckwagon downtown and held an impromptu breakfast. Now a century later, the tradition of the breakfast carries on. Different communities and organizations use the breakfast to connect the community, raise money for charity, and have a whole lot of fun!
