TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, there!
With Calgary Folk Music Festival just a week away, I am sharing the acts I’m most excited about—though to be honest, I really just love getting outside and enjoying the sights and sounds of the weekend. I’m excited to check out legend Emmylou Harris on Thursday night and there isn’t a big name she isn’t connected to. Matt Mays (Friday night) is always a good time, and how could I not mention country icon Tanya Tucker, who is also taking to the stage Friday night? For Calgary acts, I’m pretty excited to check out Ghostkeeper and Tea Fannie.

Calgary golfer doesn’t let his 103rd birthday get in the way of his golf game
Harry Eisenhauer plays golf at 103 years old. // Crestwood Video
Calgary golfer Harry Eisenhauer isn’t letting a silly little thing such as his age get in the way of his golf game. The 103-year-old, who just celebrated his latest birthday last week, also just played in his latest golf tournament.
His love for the game: Eisenhauer’s friends and competitors have nothing but good things to say about him and his love for golf. Just two years ago, Eisenhauer suffered a vertigo attack and he credits golf for helping him recover, as CTV reports.
A special 100th birthday: Eisenhauer served in the Second World War and was wounded in Italy, though he says it was only “flesh wounds.” When he turned 100, Calgary’s Military Museums threw a birthday party for him, as CBC reports.
In his own words: A recent Crestwood Oral History project featured Eisenhauer, and the former soldier spoke about his wartime experiences with students. In it, he detailed his experiences in a 10-minute video featuring newspaper clippings and photos from the past.
In photos: Eisenhauer became the president of the Kiwanis Club of North Calgary in 1995, in these photos documented by the University of Calgary.
“It’s a bonus just to be here at my age,” Eisenhauer told CTV.
