Plus, free family fun, new political parties, and jobs are hard to find
Good morning !
I was recently asked by the founder of Struggle Is Your Success to be one of the judges for the Momentum Entrepreneurship program graduation tonight and I'm excited to be a part of this wonderful local program. The goal is to help empower youth by giving them the entrepreneurial skills to create their own businesses. Tonight is a Shark Tank/Dragon's Den style panel and I can't wait to meet the youth and hear about their business plans! It's nice to be able to give back to the community in small ways.
I've also just officially submitted my application for the Telus StoryHive grant program for a video podcast project I want to create and I can't wait to share more about that in the future if I am one of the grant winners in May. Finishing off 2024 strong!

Police seek information in the death of a woman found on a northeast pathway
Police released a photo of the victim—captured by CCTV on Sunday—in the hopes someone will recognize her or her clothing and come forward.
A 23-year-old woman who was on life support after she was found badly injured on Monday near the Fox Hallow Golf Course around 4am on Monday has now died. Police say the victim was assaulted and are asking anyone who had recent contact with the victim, Jelisa Maschki, to contact them.
As Global News reports, police say evidence gathered so far leads them to believe the woman was assaulted, and given the seriousness of her injuries, the CPS homicide team has been called in to investigate.
According to CTV, area residents are shocked about the death and shared their thoughts on the area. One person interviewed mentioned they feel mostly safe but that there are a few encampments from time to time, while another said they take extra precautions to stay safe.

The 36th annual Lion Festival of Lights.
December in Calgary is filled with festive charm and activities to keep everyone entertained, but it can also be an expensive time of year. That’s why we wanted to share some ideas for free family fun this month.
East Village Hygge Hut and the Nordic Loop: This Scandinavian-style oasis features a fire pit and warm lighting to enjoy with friends and family. Not to be forgotten is the one-kilometre cross-country Nordic ski loop on The Confluence lands built for seasoned skiers and first-time skiers alike.
Outdoor ice skating: There is no shortage of outdoor skating rinks in Calgary to enjoy once the weather gets a little colder that is. Check out this list of city rinks to strap on the skates and have some winter fun at.
The 36th annual Lions Festival of Lights: While there are several places to take in the lights this winter, this is one of Calgary’s largest free drive-by Christmas Lights showcases. Now in its 36th year, you can catch this spectacle every night from 5:30pm to 12am until Jan 8 at Confederation Park Golf Course.
Where to eat and drink
🍴 Made by Marcus: This popular ice cream shop is offering gift boxes for the holiday season and in each box are four pints (choose from Bestsellers, Seasonal, or Vegan), and a handwritten holiday themed card. Yum!
🍴 The Wilde on 27 at the Dorian: Celebrate the season with a festive brunch on Dec. 15, featuring Chef Aron’s Beef Wellington, glazed turkey roulade, truffle-infused Wilde Benny’s, and holiday desserts like sticky toffee pudding. These new menus need to be devoured!
