Best Christmas markets in Calgary to check out this holiday season

It’s the most wonderful time of the year—and that means that the city’s beloved Christmas markets are back! Whether you need to find the perfect gifts for your friends and family, or you just want to enjoy the holiday spirit while sipping on hot chocolate, these markets are made for you. Markets are a great way to support local businesses and find unique items for either yourself or others, so get bundled up and head out.

Since 2001, this market has been a go-to spot for Christmas shopping. With over 300 local vendors, you’re sure to find the perfect gift as well as some tasty treats along the way. Not only are there great shopping opportunities, but the market also has Santa’s Reindeer every Sunday for the kids. The market runs every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until Dec. 4.

Back for its sixth annual Christmas market, The Saskatoon Farm is hosting over 400 local vendors every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until Dec. 11 with different vendors each weekend. While you’re there, make sure to try the Saskatoon Farm’s in-house made baked goods. The market is a combination of indoor and outdoor, so make sure to bring your toque and mitts!

Not a big fan of the cold weather? Head on over to this indoor market at the Crossroads Farmers Market on Friday, which is the last chance of the holiday season to enjoy this holiday market. The $5 admission goes to local charities. Enjoy local vendors selling a variety of items such as clothing, collectables, and treats. Don’t forget to check out the live music.

Check out Granary Road just south of the city on Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 26 to Dec. 18 and you will get to celebrate the holidays with carols, festive trees, lights, and Christmas photos with Santa and the alpacas. Yes, alpacas! You won’t want to miss Santa’s Workshop, which is loaded with gingerbread cookies, hot chocolate, tractor rides, ornaments, and more.

Head over to the BMO Centre Halls B and C on Dec. 9 to 11, and Dec. 16 to 18 for the popular Market Collective Holiday. This family-friendly event includes live music, workshops, galleries, food and drinks, and over 150 local vendors to peruse. This is a wonderful holiday event that loves to support local makers.
