If you're looking for a memorable night out later this month, this one's worth knowing about. The Asian Heritage Foundation is bringing Treasures of Asia and Canada to the Bella Concert Hall at Mount Royal University on Saturday, April 25 — an evening of pan-Asian dance and music featuring international award-winning performers alongside some of Calgary's own professional artists.

The program spans South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian, Central Asian, and Pacific Islander traditions, and there's a pre-show dialogue with the artists in the lobby before the performance kicks off. It's a fitting way to lead into Asian Heritage Month, observed every May across Canada as a time to celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Asian communities to the country.

Founded by Teresa Woo-Paw, the Asian Heritage Foundation says that it hopes the evening draws a broad, intergenerational crowd and shines a light on Asian artists who don't always get the visibility they deserve in mainstream Canadian arts.
