If you're looking for a reason to get out and explore Alberta's history this summer, here's a good one. Through the federal Canada Strong Pass program, children and teens aged 17 and under can get into all 15 provincial museums and historic sites for free from now until September 7. Young adults aged 18 to 24 get in at half price — and there's no limit on visits, so you can go back as many times as you like.

The pass covers a wide range of sites across the province, from the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller and Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump near Fort Macleod to Lougheed House right here in Calgary. The benefits are applied automatically — no pass to download or present at the door.

The program also extends to several national parks and historic sites in Alberta, including Banff, Jasper, Elk Island, and Waterton Lakes National Parks, as well as the Cave and Basin and Bar U Ranch National Historic Sites.
