LIVE: 2021 Federal Election results in Calgary

Many predicted three ridings in Calgary had a chance to flip red and it looks like only one succeeded.

At 8:30 p.m. MST, National Media Outlets (CBC and CTV) called a Liberal government and many predicted that it would be a minority government. 

At 9:01 p.m. MST National Outlets announced that the 44th general election will result in a minority Liberal Government. Electing Justin Trudeau as the Prime Minister of Canada for his third elected term. 

The current results as of 1:10 a.m. MST 

Liberals: 32.1% leading with 158 seats 

Conservatives: 34.0% with 119 seats 

Block Québécois: 7.8% leading with 34 seats 

NDP: 17.7% with 25 seats 

Green: 2.3% with 2 seats 

People’s Party: 5.1% with no elected seats 

As of 1:10 a.m. MST the popular vote is as follows

Conservative: 5,334,750

Liberal: 5,033,224

At 10:29 p.m. MST we heard from the Conservative leader, Erin O’Toole, who congratulated Prime Minister Trudeau on his third win. He alluded many times throughout his speech that Trudeau means to call yet another election in another 18 months. 

At 10:55 p.m. MST we heard from the New Democratic Party, Jagmeet Singh who reaffirmed his party and supporters that he would continue fighting for Canadians. He ended off his speech by saying, “We’ve shown Canadians a choice and now the choice is in the hands of voters.”

At 11:20 p.m. MST Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau gave his victorious election speech. He justified the election by looking to the future and confirming that he now has a clear direction, standing up for Canadians every single day. 

CURRENT RESULTS IN CALGARY AS OF 1:10 a.m. MST

Currently, George Chahal in Calgary-Skyview has been the only successful candidate to flip a riding in Calgary — pulling ahead at 8:41 p.m. MST. He currently sits at 43%. 

Otherwise, we have so far seen a clean blue sweep of the city all of which are reelected incumbents. However, many won with a lower percentage than they did previously in 2019. 

CALGARY SKYVIEW 

ELECTION RESULT: George Chahal, Liberal – 43%

Jag Sahota (Conservative) – 36%

Gurinder Singh Gill (NDP) – 16% 

Lee Aquart (Independent) – 0% 

Daniel Blanchard (Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada) – 0%

Harry Dhillon (PPC) – 4% 

Nadeem Rana (Centrist Party of Canada) – 0% 

Janna So (Green Party of Canada) – 1% 

Calgary Skyview is bound by city limits to the north and east, 32nd Avenue N.E. to the south and Deerfoot Trail, Beddington Trail and Harvest Hills Boulevard to the west.

CALGARY CENTRE

ELECTION RESULT: Incumbent – Greg McLean, Conservative –  52% 

Sabrina Grover (Liberal) – 29% 

Juan Estevez (NDP) – 16% 

Jacob Cohen (PPC) – 0%

Austin Mullins (Green Party of Canada) – 2% 

Dawid Pawlowski (Christian Heritage Party of Canada) – 1% 

Calgary Centre is bound by Bow Trail to the north, the Bow River to the north and east, Glenmore Trail to the south, and 37th Street S.W. to the west.

CALGARY CONFEDERATION 

ELECTION RESULT: Incumbent – Len Webber, Conservative – 46% 

Murray Sigler (Liberal) – 28%

Gulshan Akter (NDP) – 17% 

Edward Gao (PPC) – 5% 

Kevan Hunter (Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada) – 0% 

Natalie Odd (Green Party of Canada) – 4% 

Calgary Confederation is bound by John Laurie Boulevard and McKnight Boulevard to the north, Deerfoot Trail to the east, the Bow River to the south and Sarcee Trail to the west.

CALGARY FOREST LAWN 

ELECTION RESULT: Incumbent – Jasraj Singh Hallan, Conservative – 45% 

Jordan Stein (Liberal) – 28%

Keira Gunn (NDP)- 18% 

Dwayne Holub (PPC) – 7%

Carey Rutherford (Green Party of Canada) – 2%

Jonathan Trautman (Communist Party of Canada) – 1%

Calgary Forest Lawn is bound by 32nd Avenue N.E. to the north, city limits to the east, 17th Avenue. S.E. to the south and Deerfoot Trail to the west.

CALGARY HERITAGE 

ELECTION RESULT: Incumbent – Bob Benzen, Conservative – 58%

Kathleen M. Johnson (NDP) – 17% 

Scott Forsyth (Liberal) – 16%

Bailey Bedard (PPC) – 5% 

Malka Labell (Green Party of Canada) – 1%

Mark Dejewski (Parti Rhinocéros Party) – 0%

Annelise Freeman (Maverick Party) – 1%

Calgary Heritage is bound by Glenmore Trail to the north, Macleod Trail and James McKevitt Road to the east, Spruce Meadows Trail to the south, and city limits to the west.

CALGARY MIDNAPORE 

ELECTION RESULT: Incumbent – Stephanie Kusie, Conservative – 61%

Zarnab Zafar (Liberal) – 12%

Gurmit Bhachu (NDP) – 18%

Jonathan Hagel (PPC) – 6%

Matt Magolan (Maverick) – 1%

Shaun Pulsifer (Green Party of Canada) – 1%

Calgary Midnapore is bound by Glenmore Trail to the north, the Bow River to the east, city limits to the south, and Macleod Trail and James McKevitt Road to the west.

CALGARY NOSE HILL 

ELECTION RESULT: Incumbent – Michelle Rempel Garner, Conservative – 56%

Jessica Dale-Walker (Liberal) – 20%

Khalis Ahmed (NDP) – 17%

Peggy Askin (Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada) – 0%

Stephen J Garvey (National Citizens Alliance of Canada) – 0%

ELECTION RESULT: Incumbent – Tom Kmiec, Conservative – 60%

Cam Macdonald (Liberal) – 14%

ELECTION RESULT: Incumbent – Ron Liepert, Conservative – 58%

Shawn Duncan (Liberal) – 19% 

Patrick King (NDP) – 15% 

Nick Debrey (PPC) – 5% 

Keiran Corrigall (Green Party of Canada) – 2% 

Ajay Copp (Maverick) – 1% 

Calgary Signal Hill is bound by the Bow River to the north, 37th Street S.W. to the east, Glenmore Trail to the south and city limits to the west.
