LIVE: 2021 Federal Election results in Calgary

At 8:30 p.m. MST, National Media Outlets (CBC and CTV) called a Liberal government and many predicted that it would be a minority government.

At 9:01 p.m. MST National Outlets announced that the 44th general election will result in a minority Liberal Government. Electing Justin Trudeau as the Prime Minister of Canada for his third elected term.

The current results as of 1:10 a.m. MST

Liberals: 32.1% leading with 158 seats

Conservatives: 34.0% with 119 seats

Block Québécois: 7.8% leading with 34 seats

NDP: 17.7% with 25 seats

Green: 2.3% with 2 seats

People’s Party: 5.1% with no elected seats

As of 1:10 a.m. MST the popular vote is as follows

Conservative: 5,334,750

Liberal: 5,033,224

At 10:29 p.m. MST we heard from the Conservative leader, Erin O’Toole, who congratulated Prime Minister Trudeau on his third win. He alluded many times throughout his speech that Trudeau means to call yet another election in another 18 months.

At 10:55 p.m. MST we heard from the New Democratic Party, Jagmeet Singh who reaffirmed his party and supporters that he would continue fighting for Canadians. He ended off his speech by saying, “We’ve shown Canadians a choice and now the choice is in the hands of voters.”

At 11:20 p.m. MST Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau gave his victorious election speech. He justified the election by looking to the future and confirming that he now has a clear direction, standing up for Canadians every single day.

CURRENT RESULTS IN CALGARY AS OF 1:10 a.m. MST

Currently, George Chahal in Calgary-Skyview has been the only successful candidate to flip a riding in Calgary — pulling ahead at 8:41 p.m. MST. He currently sits at 43%.

Otherwise, we have so far seen a clean blue sweep of the city all of which are reelected incumbents. However, many won with a lower percentage than they did previously in 2019.

CALGARY SKYVIEW
