Good morning !

Did you notice the days are getting much shorter? But at least it’s still beautiful and warm and it’s also Larch season! That’s when the city’s famous larch trees start to change colour and it makes for beautiful photos. I’m excited to see what photos I can capture over the next few weeks. Also, I can’t wait to enjoy that 28 degree weather on Wednesday—fall is my favourite time of year!

The city’s water restrictions are finally over after repairs to a major feeder main are mostly complete

Initial estimates of the latest 21 repairs to the Bearspaw South feeder main are between $35 to $45 million total. // City of Calgary

Mayor Jyoti Gondek says the city’s water system is open for business now that the main repairs are complete. There has been water restrictions for most of the summer since the Bearspaw water main broke in June, resulting in a city-wide restriction on water at different periods since then, including for the past month.

That said, officials are asking Calgarians to ease into their water use as to not overwhelm the system. “You may have a mountain of laundry you’ve been waiting to tackle, a pressure-wash job that you’ve been holding off, or you may just want to take that extra-long, guilt-free shower. Where possible, we would just ask you to please space these things out over the next few days,” said city official Francois Bouchart.

The city says Calgarians might notice cloudy water with the smell of chlorine but says that is just temporary and the water is safe to drink. The estimated cost of the repairs are said to be between $35 to $45 million.
